Dedication

This past weekend I took part in something you will almost never see.

I played in a soccer game with only 9 players and ended up winning 2 to 0, for those of you who don’t know how soccer is played, you’re supposed to play 11.  We only had 9 players because our game got delayed due to thunder, so then for some reason 4 of our players felt their time was more important than the whole team’s and just went home.

Winning that game was one of the best feelings I’ve ever had, we were down 2 players, we hadn’t won a game (with all of our players) in about 2 months, we had already lost that day; Everything was going against us, but we had one thing on our side: Dedication.

If you go into something with the mindset of a loss or that you don’t want to be there, then you’re going to get something along that line in return.  We went into that game thinking we had nothing to lose, we were the underdogs.  If we lose, oh well, we only had 9 players.  If we won, then wow, we beat a team by only playing 9 out of 11.  And we did that, we achieved victory because we wanted it more than the other team; we were more dedicated to getting that “W” than they were.

This shows anything is possible.  If you want to be the president, than you have to be more dedicated than the opposing runner.  If you want to be a professional athlete, you have to be more dedicated than anyone in area.  The list goes on and on.  Be the person that is picked over the genius or the 4 second 40 athlete just because you have more dedication and heart than them.
